NSW Photo Red Card - Select / Modify a Traffic Control Plan

This course provides training for people who are required to select and make minor modifications to existing Traffic Control Plans (TCP) to suit work locations.

 Note: This course does not qualify participants to control traffic with a stop/ slow bat (this requires the NSW Photo Blue Card) or Apply Traffic Control Plan’s (this requires the NSW Photo Yellow Card) or design a non standard TCP (this requires the RTA Photo Orange Card)

 The Photo Red Card qualification is suitable for:

-          Current holders of the NSW Photo Blue Card (held for 12 months or more) who also need to select/modify  traffic control plans

-          Current holders of the NSW Photo Yellow Card (held for 12 months or more) who need to select/modify suitable site TCP’s.

-     Current holders of the NSW Photo Red Card who need to re-certify their qualification (every 3 years)

Course content

       Workplace health and safety legislation (Act, Regulations, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice)

       Identify safety implications of traffic control at road works

       Linking traffic control to construction work & the OHS legislation

       Personal role and responsibilities

       Explain the requirements of a Traffic Management Plan (TMP).

       Describe the Set out and Close down of a TCP.

       Conduct a risk review for a TCP

       Make minor site specific modifications to approved TCPs

       Inspect an approved TCP.

       Traffic control procedures

       Theory Assessments.

       Practical Exercise

Nominal course duration

       14 hours over 2 days

       Adequate literacy is required to complete the written assessments.

What to expect on the day

       A photo of each participant will be taken on the day (for the card)

       Knowledge & skills assessment to be completed at end of the course

       Participation in a practical exercise

What to Bring

       Current WorkCover NSW OHS Construction Induction Card (White Card) issued after April 2004

       Evidence of 12 months traffic control experience (NSW Blue Card or NSW Yellow Card)

Certification

       Successful participants will receive a Statement of Completion issued by the NSW RTA licenced trainer.

       The wallet size NSW Photo Red Card is sent direct to the participant after processing

The NSW Select/Modify Traffic Control Plans Red Card qualification is valid for 3 years.
